Alfonso Garcia joined Chevez Ruiz Zamarripa in 1999. In
2006, he resigned to continue practicing his profession outside the firm but
rejoined in 2014 and was admitted to the partnership in 2018. His professional
practice focuses on administrative law, specifically tax. His main areas of
expertise are tax and administrative litigation, providing advice in tax
examinations by the authorities, procedures and alternative dispute resolution
mechanisms in tax matters submitted to the Mexican Tax Ombudsman (PRODECON),
representing high profile domestic and international clients.
He has a 20-year experience practicing litigation and tax
controversy, handling complex matters before administrative, tax and
constitutional courts, including the Supreme Court of Justice.
He is the author of several articles published in the Mexican legal and accounting media. Co-author of the book “Procedimientos Contenciosos de Resolución Exclusiva de Fondo” (Contentious Proceedings for Exclusive Resolution Based on the Merits of the Case). He teaches Tax Law at Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas, A.C. (CIDE).
