Gloria Niembro joined Chevez Ruiz Zamarripa as Director of Intellectual Property practice group in 2020. Gloria’s legal practice focuses on consultancy and litigation of intellectual property matters, including trademarks, copyright and trade secrets. She has performed numerous due diligences on intellectual property aspects of corporate transactions and has helped clients achieving strategic goals relating to their intangible assets.
She has ample expertise in enforcing intellectual property rights before the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property, the Federal Court of Administrative Justice, the Circuit and District Courts, and the Mexican Supreme Court. She has handled several infringement and unfair competition actions, as well as injunctions, seizure and destruction operations of counterfeit products in Mexico.
Prior to joining Chevez Ruiz Zamarripa, Gloria was a senior associate in the intellectual property practice of a major law firm in Mexico. Gloria formerly worked at Ladas & Parry LLP, in New York, after having completed a Master of Laws at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. She passed the New York bar exam and is admitted to practice law in such state.
She has performed pro-bono work for civil society organizations and social entrepreneurs in the creation and maintenance of their intellectual property rights. She currently coordinates the Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and will lead such Committee in 2021-2022.
