Aware of the importance of world market operations to companies today, Chevez Ruiz Zamarripa, offers a full range of strategic international trade consulting services.  Our specialists orient each client on taking advantage of the related tax benefits involving laws, regulations, decrees and national agreements, treaties and conventions that Mexico has signed with other countries.

As a result of this consulting work our clients are able to maximize opportunities and take advantage of the instruments available to them, minimizing risks and reducing production and operating costs, all of which translates into more profitable international business operations for their companies.

Free Trade Agreements
Many of the operations carried out by our client companies take place within the framework of the Free Trade Agreements that Mexico has signed with other nations.  Through this specialized area, we provide the orientation needed to correctly address such crucial areas as:

  • Determining the customs value of the merchandise to be imported
  • Reducing the costs of international trade
  • Anticipating tax and tariff risks
  • Applying rules of origin
  • Customs procedures and valuations
  • Elimination of tariffs
  • Non-tariff restrictions and regulations

At Chevez Ruiz Zamarripa, we focus our work on analyzing and planning for productivity, as well as the profitability called for by todayís globalized market.  We orient our clients towards the best strategies to maximize their economic benefits, within the existing import and export procedures, through such means as the following:

  • IMMEX Programs to Foment the Manufacturing, Maquiladora and Export Services Industry
  • Tax refund (drawback)
  • The Eighth Rule
  • Bonded warehouse (including the automotive sector)
  •  Special imports (temporary and definitive)

Our experience enables us to determine the best opportunities offered by each mechanism for importing machinery, equipment and raw materials for production (direct and indirect), either without having to pay any import taxes, or else by deferring or recovering the same.

Commercial Remedies
In the course of the intense world trade traffic, there is the possibility that oneís counterparts could incur in unfair practices, by setting improper prices (dumping) or being subsidized by their governments.  Chevez Ruiz Zamarripa, keeps abreast of these problems and thus advises national producers on filing and processing investigations on this matter.  Our particular background and specialization supports us in representing import and export companies, that have to be involved in these procedures, and processing them with the Economy Ministryís International Trade Practices Unit.

We likewise render advisory services to Mexican importers and exporters involved in investigations to impose emergency measures (safeguards) in addressing an abrupt increase in imports.

World Trade Organization
The rules currently governing world trade are based on World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreements and Chevez Ruiz Zamarripaís experience in this area has given it in-depth knowledge of the same.  Over time, we have aided Mexican and transnational companies and foreign governments in correctly interpreting and applying the WTOís many agreements.

Our service in this area includes defending clientsí interests by processing and utilizing the ordinary and alternate means established in the legislation, including, among others:

  • Filing administrative appeals
  • Court actions under administrative law before the Federal Court of Tax and Administrative Justice
  • Writ of amparo proceeding
  • International trade arbitration
  • Mediation

In addition to advising our clients on the tax and administrative aspects of their foreign trade operations and to ensure that they are provided comprehensive advice, we offer the support they need to carry them out in line with the international trade terms governing the same.  Therefore, our clients can be sure of being given solid professional orientation, not only concerning the manner and terms for entering into international contracts but also the most advisable sales terms for each operation.

We can evaluate both the real costs of the intervention of customs brokers and freight agents, as well as the expenditures for air, sea and ground transportation related to customs expenses, freight insurance and the rates for international purchases and sales.  We analyze the viable logistics options to find the most appropriate one, so that our clients can convert international traffic into an element that reduces their merchandise handling and control budgets.
